About, sources and safeguards

Clinical Psychology Learning Lab is an independent educational web application for undergraduate and postgraduate psychology students, trainees, educators and researchers.

Source text

The learning architecture follows the three parts and fifteen chapters of:

Plante, T. G. (2005). Contemporary clinical psychology (2nd ed.). John Wiley & Sons.

This application is not an official Wiley product, has not been endorsed by Thomas G. Plante, and is not a digital edition of the textbook. It does not contain the book's text, tables, figures, case narratives, instructor materials or examination items, and the PDF of the book is not distributed. Short references to the book's concepts and terminology are used for educational commentary. Students should read the textbook itself.

Evidence rules followed

Assessment instruments and copyright

The instrument catalogue publishes factual metadata only. No items, response forms, stimuli, norms or scoring tables are reproduced — including for instruments whose developers state that no permission is needed — so the site cannot be mistaken for a test-administration tool. Proprietary tests such as intelligence scales and personality inventories are described in general terms only.

Privacy

Clinical safeguards

This is an educational resource. It is not a diagnostic service, does not provide psychotherapy or individual treatment advice, does not establish a therapeutic relationship, and does not replace supervision, current clinical guidelines, professional codes or the law. Topics such as suicide risk are discussed in careful educational terms; no part of this site attempts to determine whether any person is safe. Anyone at risk should contact local emergency services. In India, the national Tele-MANAS helpline is 14416 — confirm current details on the official Tele-MANAS website.

Currency

The textbook was published in 2005. Since then DSM-5 (2013) and DSM-5-TR (2022) replaced DSM-IV-TR; ICD-11 came into effect in 2022; several tests cited in the book have newer editions; and India enacted the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017. Modules flag these changes in “Currency and verification” notes. Content was last reviewed on 2026-10-19.
